Introduction
Welcome to my guide on the Fury DPS spec; it may not be the easiest spec to play; but with the 6.0 changes it should be manageable by most.
In 6.0, Fury went from a class about building up procs to dump during the 6 second Colossus Smash window to a 'button-mashing' type of class. At higher gear levels, it's quite rare to not have a button to press for more than a GCD.
Fury is split into two 'sub-specs': Titan's Grip - TG for short & Single-Minded Fury - SMF for short.
TG dual wields two-handed weapons, while SMF dual wields one-handed weapons.
It is important to never use a two-hander + one-hander combo. It's the worst idea you can have while playing fury. If you don't have two useful weapons, play Arms or Protection.
Talents & Glyphs
Level 15
- Two real choices here are Juggernaut & Double Time. It's down to personal preference.
- Warbringer is a nearly useless talent, as the cooldown on charge is too long, and most bosses are immune to stuns. I could see a use on Galakras to stop a Bonecrusher's fracture, as charge no longer stuns by default.
Level 30
- Impending Victory is the prime choice; as it's an extra filler, that can be used as a mini-healthstone. This talent is practically mandatory for SMF.
- Enraged Regeneration is an okay choice for most fights, but because of it's long cooldown, and lackluster effect, I prefer Impending Victory.
- Second Wind went from being the #1 choice for 2 years to being garbage. 10% leech is nearly nothing, and it's only under 35% health. The only reason a player would take this talent is his laziness and/or incompetence.
Level 45
- Furious Strikes is the best talent in this row currently.
- Sudden Death has been nerfed. It is simply weaker than Furious Strikes.
- Unquenchable Thirst isn't a good choice, as Bloodthirst has a 4.5 second cooldown, which is further lowered by haste.
Level 60
- Storm Bolt is still the prime choice for single-target DPS, as it has a short cooldown.
- Dragon's Roar is the better choice for AoE; but it's cooldown is too long to justify using it over Storm Bolt on single-target.
- Shockwave isn't the best choice for DPS, but it's pretty good utility on fights like Galakras. (Though I personally don't use it outside of Challenge Modes in PvE.)
Level 75
- Vigilance is the best choice here, as it's an on-use cooldown for a raid member, similar to Pain Suppression. Combined with a mouseover macro, this is a very quick and powerful way to stop the pull from going sour. A great example of how this talent can save a teammate can be shown here.
- Mass Spell Reflection is a valid choice for a few fights, as you can shield your raid members from certain spells. The situations where this is useful are very rare; so you should always use Vigilance.
- Safeguard used to be the best choice for PvP as it would break roots; but as it is now, it's nearly useless on the majority of encounters.
Level 90
- Bloodbath is the best choice for both single-target & AoE.
- Bladestorm may look like a good choice for AoE, but because it stops you from doing anything else for the duration, making you lose out on DPS. Pre 6.0, this talent was seldom used as a filler, while you waited for Collosus Smash to be back up. Unless you are facing 4+ mobs that will not live long enough for Bloodbath to fully bleed, this talent in inferior.
- Avatar is useless, because it's cooldown is way too long for only 20% increase. It no longer makes us immune to CC, or gives us endless rage, making is a puny shadow of the spell it once was.
Glyphs
- Bull Rush - More rage generated from Charge is a DPS gain. This glyph is mandatory.
- Raging Wind - Since we use Whirlwind as a filler, it's a DPS gain. This glyph is mandatory.
- Unending Rage - This glyph allows us to waste less rage by increasing the cap. (Optional)
- Rude Interruption - Flat damage increase on fights where you interrupt things. (Optional)
- Heroic Leap - Amazing glyph for mobility, however it's not in the game yet. (Possibly mandatory)
- Subtle Defender - The only 'mandatory' minor glyph - It allows us to use Defensive Stance as a defensive, without having to worry about threat.
Stat Weights
With the removal of Hit & Expertise, fury warrior focus mainly on getting their crit 'cap'.
In order of decreasing priority:
- 11% Haste
- Critical Strike
- 48-49% for SMF warriors - including the 5% crit raid buff.
- 52-53% for TG warriors - including the 5% crit raid buff.
- Strength.
- Mastery.
- Haste > 11%.
- Multistrike.
- Versatility.
- Critical Strike > 48/52%.
Gems, Enchants & Consumables
Gems
You want anything to help you get your two main caps. (11% Haste & 48/52% Crit)
At higher gear levels, gems will look something like this:
- Meta Sockets - Reverberating Primal Diamond or Capacitative Primal Diamond
- Red Sockets - Etched Imperial Amethyst or Skillful Vermilion Onyx
- Blue Sockets - Rigid River's Heart
- Yellow Sockets - Smooth Sun's Radiance or Fractured Sun's Radiance
If you are not haste & crit capped; socket one of the following to reach your caps:
Enchants
- Weapons - Dancing Steel (or Windsong if you're cheap/poor)
- Shoulders - Greater Tiger Fang Inscription (or Tiger Fang Inscription if you're cheap/poor)
- Back - Critical Strike
- Chest - Glorious Stats
- Wrists - Mastery
- Waist - Living Steel Belt Buckle
- Hands - Superior Mastery
- Legs - Angerhide Leg Armor (or Brutal Leg Armor if you're cheap/poor)
- Feet - Greater Precision (Possibly Pandaren's Step)
Consumables
- Food - Treasure Noodles or Deluxe Noodles or Steak (In decreasing order of cost)
- Flask - Winter's Bite (or Titanic Strength, due to 6.0 stat squish)
- Potion - Mogu Power (or Golemblood, due to 6.0 stat squish)
Rotation, Priorities & Cooldowns
Single Target Priority
- Enrage is your highest priority. (Keep this buff up using Bloodthirst & Berserker Rage)
- Use Wild Strike if to avoid capping your rage.
- Use Raging Blow if you have 2 stacks to avoid capping the procs.
- Use Bloodthirst.
- Use Execute. (If Sudden Death is Active)
- Use Raging Blow.
- Use Storm Bolt or Dragon's Roar.
- Use Whirlwind or Impending Victory.
Execute Phase
- Keep Enrage active. (use Berserker Rage if necessary)
- Use Execute.
- Use Bloodthirst.
- Use Raging Blow.
- Use Wild Strike with Bloodsurge procs only.
- Use Storm Bolt or Dragon's Roar.
AoE Rotation
- Use Bloodthirst.
- Use Whirlwind to get Meat Cleaver stacks.
- Use Raging Blow to hit multiple targets with it.
Offensive Cooldowns
- Battle Stance - More rage results in more DPS. This is your default stance.
- Recklessness - Use on cooldown if possible. Prioritize usage during Execute phase.
- Bloodbath - Use on cooldown to keep it in-line with Recklessness. (Use Bloodbath only if it will be available for the Execute phase.)
Defensive Cooldowns
- Defensive Stance - Lowers rage generation, but it's a great defensive 'cooldown' for damage spikes (such as Whirling Corruption during the Garrosh Hellscream encounter in Siege of Orgrimmar.)
- Die by the Sword - Can be used to block abilities like Quills during the Ji-Kun encounter in Throne of Thunder. The relatively short cooldown allows it to be used as a simple 10% damage reduction, paired with the 25% from Defensive Stance it greatly helps our survival.
- Rallying Cry - A raid-wise defensive cooldown.
- Impending Victory or Enraged Regeneration - Use when Die by the Sword is on cooldown or you're low on health. ER is best paired with Defensive Stance
- Shield Barrier - This 'defensive' requires you to be in Defensive Stance, and I don't recommend using it, because it will eat up all of your rage, which is already hard to get as it is.
Utility
- Pummel - Interrupt with a short cooldown.
- Heroic Leap - Allows for more mobility.
- Intimidating Shout - AoE Fear.
- Vigilance - 30% damage reduction for a raid member.
- Taunt - Allows us to 'tank' the boss for around 8 seconds, by using Die by the Sword.
- Intervene - More mobility. (It will case the next spell to hit the target to hit us instead; this means if you intervene the tank, be ready to be hit by the boss. Possibly use Die by the Sword.)
- Battle Shout & Commanding Shout - Raid buffs; can't use both at once.

Macros
There are no specific that are mandatory, except a macro to cancel Bladestorm, in case the adds I used it on died before the duration ended.
#showtooltip Bladestorm
/cancelaura Bladestorm
This macro makes my Vigilance cast on my current mouseover. This is more efficient than clicking and pushing the keybind; more efficiency results in more DPS!
#showtooltip Vigilance
/cast [@mouseover] Vigilance
I used to use a macro to set focus of my current target (Example: Malkorok).
I then used to use another macro to target my current focus. This helped when switching between a Boss and adds that spawn (Like Malkorok on mythic)
/focus - puts the current target on focus.
/target focus - puts the current focus as your target.
To clear your focus you simply de-select your target, and press the /focus macro again.
To be more efficient with this I suggest changing the keybinds in your settings instead of using the macro, as the macro just eats up keybinds that can be used on other spells/items.
Conclusion & Q&A
If you got this far I'd like to thank you for reading and I hope I helped you learn my favorite class in the World of Warcraft.
Q: Titan's Grip or Single-Minded Fury?
A: I'll play whichever one is currently better. If they're equal I'll play whichever I have the better weapons for. If both the specs & the weapons are equal I'll play Single-Minded Fury.
Q: Is fury fun to play?
A: Yes; while it's not as fun as it used to pre 6.0, it is still a fun spec to play.
Q: Armory Link?
A: Here.
Q: Do you stream?
A: Yes, here.
Q: Do you upload bosskills to Youtube?
A: I did a couple, will be adding each boss kill in WoD - Channel here.
Q: Do you have any alts? Which ones?
A: Rogue, Druid, Shaman + more soon.
